I was recently asked for tips on turning a smoothie into a full meal replacement and my answer is make it larger and/or add more fats! My favorite fats are avocados and tahini, both of which taste amazing in smoothies! Funny story, in Brazil they basically only use avocados for smoothies so every time they saw me trying to slice an avocado onto a subway salad (it was hard being vegan in Brazil) they would laugh at me. And then when I got home and started putting avocados in my smoothies my family would laugh at me. Moral of the story is that avocados are really good with all foods, including smoothies, and I will post more of those type of recipes soon!
- Frozen cherries
- Frozen pineapples
- 1.2 Frozen peeled bananas
- 1ish Tablespoon of tahini
- 3 Medjool dates
- 3 Tangerines
- 1 Teaspoon flax seed
- Almond milk (just enough to run the blender, but still keep the thick consistency)
I wanted this smoothie to stay thick and creamy so I only used a tiny bit of almond milk, since the tangerines added a lot of liquid to the drink. One of the benefits of a Vitamix blender is that they can work with little to no liquid.
I never use measurements in my day to day life, but I am trying to get better at that so I can post more detailed recipes!
